Privacy Notice

SoundPip runs a waitlist for Pip’s Missing Word™, a vocabulary card game for children ages 6–10. This page says what we ask you for, why we ask, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and how to tell us to stop. Plain words, no fine print.

This form is for grown-ups

Pip’s Missing Word™ is made for children. This waitlist is not. It is for the adults who might buy it, and when you join you confirm you are 18 or older.

We do not knowingly collect any personal data about a child. We never ask for a child’s name, age, school or photograph, and we would rather you did not tell us. When we ask who the game is for, general terms are exactly right — “my child”, “a gift”, “my classroom”. If you believe a child has sent us their details anyway, tell us through our contact form and we will delete them.

India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 also says that nobody may track or monitor children’s behaviour, or aim advertising at children. We do not, and we will not. Our advertising is aimed at the grown-ups who buy the game.

What we ask you for

Five things, and only these five:

• Your email address — required. It is how we tell you the game is out.
• Your first name — optional. Leave it blank if you would rather.
• Your city and country — required.
• Who the game would be for — required. You pick one: your child, a gift, your students, or just curious for now.
• Which price band feels fair to you — required. You pick one band from a list.

That is the entire list. We do not ask for payment details, card numbers or a password — not on this form, not anywhere on this site. If a page ever asks you for those in our name, it is not us.

Why we ask

Two purposes, and no others:

1. To run the launch waitlist — so we know how many people are waiting and roughly where they are, and can print a sensible number of decks.
2. To email you about Pip’s Missing Word™ — when it goes on sale, where to buy it, and what it costs.

The price-band question tells us what the game should cost. The “who is it for” question tells us whether to write to parents, to gift-buyers or to teachers. That is the whole use. We do not use your answers for anything else, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not run our own advertising off the back of them.

Who else sees your answers

SoundPip

A small core team, and only the people who need to see the list.

Google

Our waitlist form is a Google Form and your answers land in a Google Sheet, so Google stores them on its servers, which may be located outside India. How Google handles data on those services is governed by Google’s own terms and privacy policy. We do not use Google for anything beyond collecting and holding the waitlist.

Netlify

This website is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, its servers keep ordinary technical logs of a visit — such as your IP address and which page you asked for — in order to serve the page and keep it secure. Those logs are Netlify’s, they sit on servers that may be located outside India, and we do not use them to identify you or link them to your waitlist answers.

Meta — only if you join through Instagram or Facebook

We are preparing to run ads on Instagram and Facebook that would let you join the waitlist inside the app, without coming to this website. That form is not live yet. If you ever join us that way, then Meta — the company behind Instagram and Facebook — receives your answers first and passes them on to us, and it also keeps its own copy under its own privacy policy, on servers that may be located outside India. Everything on this page about what we ask, why we ask and how long we keep it applies to those answers exactly as it does to these. If you join through this website instead, Meta is not involved unless you have accepted the pixel described next.

Meta advertising pixel — only if you say yes

We use a small piece of Meta’s code — a pixel — on this website, so we can see whether our Instagram and Facebook ads are actually bringing people here, and so we can show our ads to people who look like the ones who joined. It sets cookies in your browser and tells Meta that a browser visited this page. If you join the waitlist while it is running, it also tells Meta that a join happened — a count, not your answers: your email, your city and everything else you typed stay out of it. It does not run until you agree to it: you will be asked when you arrive, and you can say no and still use the site completely normally. Saying no is also what happens if you ignore the question or close it. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie preferences link at the foot of any page — choose Decline there and we stop loading it. We never send Meta anything about a child, and we do not aim any advertising at children.

We do not sell your data, ever, to anyone.

How long we keep it

Until launch plus 12 months, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. When that time is up, your row comes out of the sheet.

Your rights, and how to use them

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can:

• Ask what we hold — a summary of your personal data, what we are doing with it, and who we have shared it with.
• Ask us to correct it — or complete it, or bring it up to date.
• Ask us to delete it.
• Withdraw your consent — at any time, and it should be as easy to take back as it was to give.
• Nominate someone — a person who can exercise these rights for you if you die or cannot act for yourself.

One route does all of them: our contact form. Tell us which one you want and the email address you signed up with, so we can find your row. We will come back to you.

Withdrawing your consent stops us using your answers from that point on. It does not undo what we lawfully did while your consent stood.

If we get it wrong

Start with us. The contact form is the fastest way, and we would genuinely rather hear it from you than not.

If we do not put it right, you can complain about us to the Data Protection Board of India — the independent body set up under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 to hear exactly this kind of complaint. You will normally be expected to raise the matter with us first and give us a chance to fix it. The Board sets and publishes its own procedure for making a complaint, so please follow whatever route it currently gives on the Government of India’s data protection pages.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to keep your answers safe, and we keep the number of people who can open the sheet small. No system is perfect and we are not going to pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your personal data, the law requires us to tell both you and the Data Protection Board of India, and we will.

Changes to this notice

If what we do with your data changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top changes with it. If a change is a significant one, we will say so on the waitlist form as well, so you are not expected to come back here and re-read it.
